I have
found the perfect charger for our
ECU battery packs, the Orbit Pocket
Charger. This is a very small
(4.3"x2.7"x0.9"), light weight but
rugged unit that packs a big punch.
This charger will handle up to 12
Nicds/NiMh cells or 5 Lion/LiPo
cells or up to 16 volt lead acid
batteries with a maximum charge
current of 4 amps. This is ideal for
our ECU, receiver and transmitter
batteries. So small and reasonably
priced, you can easily put two or
three units in your flight box and
charge everything at once. I have
been using Orbit's larger Micro
Lader Race charger for over 6 years
and I can tell you the quality and
performance of Orbit chargers are
second to none. Why buy anything
else when you can get a quality
German made charger for about the
same price as other popular units.

The Orbit POCKET CHARGER combines
all functions an R/C hobbyist could
wish for in one compact charger. All
rechargeable battery types 1V up to
21V and 50mA up to 4 amps can be
charged and discharged.
The Orbit POCKET CHARGER is a
powerful charger for Nickel Metal
Hydride (NiMh), Nickel Cadmium (NiCd),
lead (Pb), and Lithium-Ion/ Polymer
batteries, and simultaneously serves
as a precise measurement device for
the battery capacity. A clearly
arranged LCD display informs you at
any time about the battery voltage,
the charging current, the total
charging time, and the charge (in
mAh).
The Orbit POCKET CHARGER has a SIO
interface to analyze the measured
battery data with the Orbit MICROLOG
software and to update the POCKET
CHARGER with the newest firmware
(firmware-flash).

The
SIO connector (Serial Input /
Output) of your Orbit POCKET CHARGER
serves as an interface for data
exchange with a PC. For the data
transfer, you need a serial SIO
cable, which you can order
separately. Together with the cable,
you will receive the Windows
application Orbit Microlog, which
you can use, for example, to record
and display the charging curves of
your batteries, to identify battery
problems and to update the control
software (firmware) of your POCKET
CHARGER.
